I have to say I love my Chromebook. Since I bought my Chromebook I’ve never looked back. I just love how I can start my Chromebook and within 1 minute be signed into my Gmail account and chatting with a friend on Google Hangouts.
So, here are the top five reasons why I love my Chromebook
Chromebooks can start up in an amazing 8 seconds, and resume from sleep mode in under a second. This is because of the incredibly simple Chrome operating system, and minimal hardware inside the Chromebook which also makes the device very lightweight. It’s essentially a web browser with offline file storage managed by Google Drive.
We all need to be really careful these days opening email attachments and clicking on suspicious websites. ChromeOS software is built on the foundations of the Linux operating system which is incredibly secure compared to Windows. Also in the unlikely event of anything going wrong on your Chromebook they have been designed with a reset function which makes it very simple to continue where you left off. No device is ever 100% safe from viruses and malware threats but Chromebooks provide peace of mind that you are protected and can be up and running quickly if any problems occur.
No more Windows Updates!
Wow. Yes that’s right! You’ll never have to put up with Windows updates again. ChromeOS updates itself in the background without any user intervention. The next time you restart your Chromebook it will automatically update it’s software without any annoying messages and just like every else on a Chromebook it’s very fast.
Say goodbye to slow updates and annoying prompts to restart your computer. This means you will be free to work or chat with friends on Facebook rather than wasting time waiting for a Windows update to finish.
Supervised Users Parental Controls
Another great feature for parents is you can setup multiple Supervised User accounts. This means you can then go to your Google Supervised User Dashboard and monitor what other persons are looking at on the web. It is also possible to permit or block certain web sites from being viewed.
I have a young daughter so when she is using my Chromebook to surf the Internet I can relax knowing that she’s not viewing anything harmful, and if she is, I can block it from being accessed next time. Google’s Parental Control feature was recently released so it isn’t perfect yet, but they are adding more features and it’s getting better every day.
They’re not expensive
It’s really not! Most Chromebooks are much cheaper compared to an Apple Macbook or Windows Ultrabook. They range in price from $200 to $400 for most models except Google’s Pixel Chromebook which costs in excess of $1,000 (I don’t recommended buying a Pixel as it’s overpriced in my opinion). What other laptop can you buy for under $400 in the current market? Have a look at Amazon.com for the best deals when purchasing a new Chromebook.
